Meet Steven Brodie: LCSW Counselor
Hi! My name is Steven. I am a therapist based in Temple, Texas and I am here to help.
If you are anything like me, you were probably Googling something like “find a therapist near me”, and you were surprised to find so many therapists in the Temple area. Somehow, even in this sea of names and faces, it starts to feel like they are all saying the same thing. How do you find someone who truly meets your needs and understands what YOU are all about?
My name is Steven Brodie. I am a therapist, a father, and a Marine in the reserves. I became a therapist after returning from deployment and seeing the increased need for mental health professionals. I started my career wanting to work with and help children, but I quickly found this role to be my calling. I feel honored and privileged to be helping people who are going through, or have been through hard situations. My mission is to help my clients discover what it is that stops them from feeling the way they deserve to feel. I love not only seeing people heal, but seeing the impact that they make when they are leading happier and healthier lives with their families, friends, and communities. The path to emotional wellness is challenging, and is unique for every person. As a therapist, I believe in providing more than a blank stare and the occasional nod of my head. Together, we will collaborate to determine what emotional wellness looks like for you; and how we can achieve it. Unfortunately, there are no cookie cutter solutions. Life is never that simple. Fortunately, we have plenty of tools and strategies at our disposal, and if we utilize my intuition and experience on which tools to use and when, our goals are closer than you think.
I have a Master’s Degree in Social Work and specialized training and experience in working with multiple types of traumatic experiences. My specialties include childhood/adolescent therapy, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, and substance abuse. I also have extensive training in CBT, CBT-I, and CPT. Continuing education and collaboration with other providers is something that I am dedicated to — because my clients only benefit from the additional opportunities to continue learning and refining my skills. Beyond the learned skills, I also bring a strong set of ethics and core values to my clients. We all come from different walks of life. My cultural background or upbringing may differ from the person next to me. I firmly believe that each and every client is the expert on their life and their story; I am just privileged enough to hear their story and if possible, become a part of that story in helping them heal and overcome.
Anyone will tell you that asking for help is hard. Reaching out to a professional can seem even more intimidating. I promise I will do my best to make that as easy on you as possible. To begin, we will spend 15-minutes on the phone doing a consultation and we will decide if we are a good fit and if I can help. If we feel like it is a good match, we will schedule an evaluation. Within the first three session, it is our goal to form a diagnosis, a treatment plan, and objective goals for your therapy. If I am not the right provider for you, I’ll do my best to get you to one who is.
