Does your child hate school?

Is your child frequently in trouble for being off task or not meeting the teacher’s expectations? Does your child struggle with their homework and express feelings of being overwhelmed?

Signs and symptoms of academic struggles can include:

  • Poor or slipping grades

  • Not meeting expectations or goals at school

  • Avoiding homework

  • Trying to avoid school or having to go to school

  • Visible signs of stress at the thought of going to school

Your child may have academic problems for a variety of reasons that you or your child may not understand.  Some children simply learn differently from others. Others may have a slight learning disability, and struggling with that makes them feel stupid. There are even children with perfectionist tendencies that creates anxiety and prevents them from finishing their work.

Anxiety from social situations can also distract students from schoolwork, leading to academic struggles. Prolonged academic frustration can lead to an underlying depression that steals their desire to try or their ability to learn.

Together, we can identify what frustrations your child is experiencing in the school setting and provide your child the necessary tools to navigate and manage the inevitable stresses that come from attending school. Once we have the frustrations identified, we can develop the tools and techniques to minimize the effect of stress on your child, and bring the joy and excitement back to the learning process.
